new shoes and kisses

Here is our bella (beautiful) daughter in her new jelly-sparkle shoes!! "oooooooohhhhhh" as she says. She picked them out and wants to wear them all the time, and I swear, every store we go into some stranger has to come up to us and say "wow, i like her shoes" or even little kids will come up to us and tell me (while pointing at her) how much they love her shoes. Anyway, it's fun because I bought a matching pair (yes) and so we wear them together.

Mommy and Lexy chillin' on the couch watching TV and eating 'snacky-snacks'

"MmmmmmmmmmmmmMaaaah!" Big kiss for everyone who wants one. She is so good at giving kisses and doing the sound effects to go along with the kiss. And now she is learning how to give the biggest and the best Hugs. She knows the The Lion King by heart and from the begining of the movie (where the monkey gives the lion king a hug) she saw how he wraps his arms around him and trys to copy it while giving you a hug.
The reason I know she learned this from the movie is that every time we watch the movie she acts out the hugs part by throwing her arms around herself at the exact moment in the movie when the monkey does it. ...which reminds me that she is now officially a "copy cat" in copying everything I do and say. Since she can't do the words exactly yet she does the exact sound of my voice...like the the pitch of my voice (like say "aaaaa- ooooo" instead of "a-oh") ok wierd example. How about "daaaa-iiiiii-iiiieeesss" for "there it is" so if in a movie I say "wooooowwwww, cooooool" she will, every single time that same part is played, say "oooooooooowww, ooohhhhh" in the exact same tone as me. I don't know, it's just really cool to see her learning and copying me and getting so big and turning into a little girl. I'm so proud and she's ony 1 1/2! Hold me back People!! ;)

1st Trip to the Zoo

We had our first family trip to the Oakland Zoo on Saturday and Alexya got to see all of her favorite animals up close and in real life. She loved the monkeys and the giraffes and the zebras and the tiger, but her favorites were the elephants, of course, and the lions! It was very very hot, but we went late in the day so it could have been worse. She still was super excited and making monkey and elephant noises. We actually bought a season pass so we can go anytime for free and they have all these rides that we didn't get to go on this time that we can ride free next time. I haven't been to the Zoo in forever and so it was actually fun for me too to see all the wild animals up close. It's a great Zoo with all of the animals closer than I had expected and happy...which I didn't expect either actually. The elephants were running around and the monkeys were rolling around and jumping through the trees and even the tigers took a swim and then went parading around the habitat coming like 5 feet away from where we were standing! The only ones that were out of it were the zebras and the lions (who were sleeping since it was so hot). I can't wait to go back so if anyone wants to join us just let me know! :)

A very happy chica on her way home from the Zoo!

Supermodel Shoot

Ok, my fav senior-buyer at mervyns, Rose, gave me this outfit for Alexya when I quit (as a goodbye gift) and now she finally fits it! Since I had to take some pics to send to Rose, so she could see her in it, I got inspired to also post them on Lexy's blog. As you can see (and as Rose pointed out in her email to me) Lexy really knows how to work the camera!
Her dad saw these pictures and was like "I'm gonna have a big problem on my hands when she gets older" and it also inspired a "when is she old enough to date" conversation as well. :)

Alexya Updates 1yr 4mo old

Alexya got a new toy that she absolutely loves....it's this magnetic drawing pad that she can draw and erase and it keeps her busy for hours!! She carries it around with her and then plops down randomly and starts drawing. She got a little einsteins one for our house and a princess one for grandma's house.

Giving daddy kisses through the sliding glass door.

Relaxing w/daddy on the couch. I just got back from a 3 day trip to Atlanta for work and it was just Lexy and daddy for 3 days....she was very good and they had a great time w/o me! My trip went so fast that I barely had time to miss them...but when I got back to the Oakland airport and saw them, it hit me how much I missed them and how lucky I am to have my family.
Lexy updates include: her favorite words are: "dada" (dad and me are both dadas)
"dat" which I think means "that"
"tey" when she calls toretto "T"
"hey" when she suprises you or is hiding from you in the closet and pops out.
"ma" is more for more food
that's pretty much all the words....she is running pretty fast now (sometimes with her arms out behind her to I guess make her more aerodynamic and go faster ;)
she picks up and throws balls and kicks them. She can't jump yet, but she does this funny squating thing where she bounces her body up and down in squats to music usually. She shakes her body and head side to side to dance and stomps her feet really fast. She just started singing, which is really sweet to listen to and definately loves music! She sings herself to sleep for her naps and sings in the car and just randomly.
There's probably more, but that's all I can think of right now....she is just changing so fast and it's really fun!! :)

Easter Fun

Life is very busy for Alexya, but she still finds time to water her flowers in the front yard. This picture was actually taken on St. Patrick's day, but I'm just now getting around to post it. She had a fun holiday all decked out in green and a fun time celebrating her daddy and her grandma's birthday (the same day March 22nd) at the horse race track! She got to see real horses and watch them run by very fast and hear everyone screaming and yelling...which she happily joined in! ;)

Lexy also had fun practicing her easter egg hunt, throwing the plastic eggs around and then picking them up.

Alexya is Growing Up

Take a good look at this picture because she is so sweet and innocent in it. Ok Ok...she still is sweet and innocent...but recently she has been quite a handful. Maybe it's because I am working now and not devoting 100% attention to her all the time anymore, but she is definately learning boundries, moods and how to get what she wants. She is a very good kid and super smart, so when she starts screaming at you and throwing things...it almost takes you by suprise. Sometimes she just wants to play with you and other times she is just mad at you (which is hilarious by the way). She will go from politely bringing you a book to read to throwing it at you and screaming in .5 seconds! The funny part of all this is that sometimes she will get so mad that she will really cry tears and then as soon as you pick her up or give her what she wants...the tears stop and she does this giggle of satisfaction/happiness.

It's also been fun seeing her change from taking tentative steps while holding your hand, to running full speed and yelling out "pat pat pat" at the top of her lungs...(which is a phrase from little einstiens, the show she loves). People are looking at me like "is she ok??" and I love that she is having so much fun just being a kid.
The other great thing is the kisses!! ok, kisses are the best thing about having a kid. She will give you kisses when she eats (after almost every bite), kisses when she thinks you're mad, kisses when she is happy, kisses for reading her a book, kisses for no reason at all, basically kisses all the time!! It's the best thing in the world and I will never get tired of it! :)

here she comes with a book....you better read it to her!!!!

Here she is with her favorite stuffed animal, her bedtime carebear that she got for Christmas from Auntie Erica. She loves this bear so much that she carries it around with her, sleeps with it, and gives it hugs and kisses all day long. It's her baby. :)

Oh ya, and the last thing I want to mention, is that since we got the new computer and can see all of the videos we took of her when she was a baby....it is a major reality check of how time flies and wow, how much and how fast kids grow up. We are watching pictures of her barely able to hold her head up and waving around these skinny little arms, not knowing what they are for or how to control them.....to having her run right up to us, give us a kiss, and throw herself in our laps. So amazing and emotional when you really think about how fast it goes and not to let any of it slip by without enjoying it thoroughly!!! Parenthood is such a blessing and we just want to thank God for the entire experience.

Levels of Excitement...

High - Robert opening his brand new computer...after 4 years of waiting we can finally burn DVDs of Alexya's videos, watch movies on the huge 22 in flat screen it came with and many other cool things that I don't know about since I have no time to be on it.... but robert loves it! (like a kid at christmas)

Low - Alexya waiting patiently for her food to be prepared.

High - Toretto wearing socks so that he can run around downstairs and play with us after being outside in the cold muddy backyard all day.

Medium - Alexya, just finishing her afternoon bath, has decided to kick back in her chair and read a new book.

Boogie in the Box

I know it's been a long time since I've put up new pictures....but I have a very good excuse..well, 2 actually.... #1. I am working a full time job (that I just started and am just now feeling comfortable with) and watching Alexya...who is entering the terrible twos...early!!
#2. We got a new computer...and I haven't had time to get used to it....so i'm still using our old one to do this post.
So before I go into detail about Alexya's mood swings...here are some cute pics of her playing in her toy box. She likes to climb in here and read and drink her aqua and sometimes just kick it....

Superbowl Sunday

What a great game!!! For those of you who are patriots fans (you better not be) and oh so sorry you got your "perfect season" destroyed on Sunday! :) ahahhahahhahahahhahahahah! Ok, i'm done...promise...
Obviously, I had alot of emotion involved in this game and I was jumping up and down with Alexya in my arms when Eli Manning broke that sack (double broke it!) and then that guy (forget his name) caught it over his head and held on to it!! Oh and then again when they made the winning touchdown with like 30 seconds left! I'm not even a Giants fan, but I was just so happy to see them stop the patriots (which I didn't even think could happen) that it has to be the Best Superbowl I've Ever Seen!! .... side note: when i was jumping up and down with Alexya in my arms and screaming..so was everyone else and it was so loud that for a second I got scared that she might freak out...but nope...she started laughing so hard cause she thought we were crazy!! :) Maybe she's used to her psycho-sport loving parents and family! :)

Anyway, you can see her w/ grandma above...both looking so beautiful!!! and all decked out in her Raiders jersey (a gift from aunt Erica and uncle matt) just to jinx randy moss...and IT WORKED!! hehehehehahahahaha...ok now I'm really done.

She played so hard throwing her ball all over the house...down the hall...and up the stairs...

What a lot of fun and excitement! She ended up exhausted the next day.... laying on the couch and watching TV.

The Biker Chick

Alexya has finally mastered riding on her bike push toy that Catherine and Thomas let us borrow. She likes to put her drink in the front basket and then do tricks on it like you can see in the picture...she likes to ride on it and sit on it backwards and now stand on it like the trick bike riders do! Such a crazy chica.

She also likes to throw her hands in the air and look hard...."ye-ah bo-y" "dat'swadi'mtalkinbout" ok, you get the point and i'm a nerd....but she is so so cool... ;)

Oh, and please check out the super cool Raiders beenie that she got from grandma and grandpa hernandez! She loves to wear it when I don't have time to do her hair.
She also can now throw her hands up in the air and make the "touchdown sign" when you say "touchdown" ...I've been working w/her on this for the past few months and she's finally got it...just in time for the superbowl! :) that's my girl!

the ones that got away...

Here are some of the pics that I wanted to put up, but just never made the cut. Watch as she goes from really cute...to really scary!

Here she is feeding the kitty...

Here she is in her super cute sweater dress that Missy gave her and super cute animal slippers that daddy bought her. She is very busy organizing her toys here.....now get ready, and don't view the next picture w/o bracing yourself first....

I'm not sure if she's upset at what she's wearing...or... the hair...
...but just know that she isn't happy all the time...she does have her moments and it sure is fun to catch them on film!
