Superbowl Sunday

What a great game!!! For those of you who are patriots fans (you better not be) and oh so sorry you got your "perfect season" destroyed on Sunday! :) ahahhahahhahahahhahahahah! Ok, i'm done...promise...
Obviously, I had alot of emotion involved in this game and I was jumping up and down with Alexya in my arms when Eli Manning broke that sack (double broke it!) and then that guy (forget his name) caught it over his head and held on to it!! Oh and then again when they made the winning touchdown with like 30 seconds left! I'm not even a Giants fan, but I was just so happy to see them stop the patriots (which I didn't even think could happen) that it has to be the Best Superbowl I've Ever Seen!! .... side note: when i was jumping up and down with Alexya in my arms and screaming..so was everyone else and it was so loud that for a second I got scared that she might freak out...but nope...she started laughing so hard cause she thought we were crazy!! :) Maybe she's used to her psycho-sport loving parents and family! :)

Anyway, you can see her w/ grandma above...both looking so beautiful!!! and all decked out in her Raiders jersey (a gift from aunt Erica and uncle matt) just to jinx randy moss...and IT WORKED!! hehehehehahahahaha...ok now I'm really done.

She played so hard throwing her ball all over the house...down the hall...and up the stairs...

What a lot of fun and excitement! She ended up exhausted the next day.... laying on the couch and watching TV.

The Biker Chick

Alexya has finally mastered riding on her bike push toy that Catherine and Thomas let us borrow. She likes to put her drink in the front basket and then do tricks on it like you can see in the picture...she likes to ride on it and sit on it backwards and now stand on it like the trick bike riders do! Such a crazy chica.

She also likes to throw her hands in the air and look hard...."ye-ah bo-y" "dat'swadi'mtalkinbout" ok, you get the point and i'm a nerd....but she is so so cool... ;)

Oh, and please check out the super cool Raiders beenie that she got from grandma and grandpa hernandez! She loves to wear it when I don't have time to do her hair.
She also can now throw her hands up in the air and make the "touchdown sign" when you say "touchdown" ...I've been working w/her on this for the past few months and she's finally got it...just in time for the superbowl! :) that's my girl!

the ones that got away...

Here are some of the pics that I wanted to put up, but just never made the cut. Watch as she goes from really cute...to really scary!

Here she is feeding the kitty...

Here she is in her super cute sweater dress that Missy gave her and super cute animal slippers that daddy bought her. She is very busy organizing her toys here.....now get ready, and don't view the next picture w/o bracing yourself first....

I'm not sure if she's upset at what she's wearing...or... the hair...
...but just know that she isn't happy all the time...she does have her moments and it sure is fun to catch them on film!

The Double Fister - lexy updates

My little girl loves her fluids! She has to have one cup with "agua" (water) and one with "leche con jugo" (milk w/ some orange juice in it...otherwise she won't drink it...i know..sounds gross). She will carry both cups around and drink from one then the other and then set one down and carry one around for a sec before going back to get it because it's more fun to carry two. She loves carrying things (not just the heavy things like before) like as many as she can to see if she can balance with all the stuff she has in her hands.
Also, she is making the cutest sort-of-words that don't sound like any actual word, but we are starting to understand what she means. Robert imitates her perfectly with this one sound she does that means she wants that. And she likes to raise her voice and point at Toretto to tell him to be quiet or lie down. Pretty much all he hears is "a-da-da-da-da-da!" with a tiny finger pointing at him, but he gets the point and lies down. He's a very good boy and loves her very much...they have a good relationship/understanding with each other. I have even caught her sneaking him some of her snacks and veggies (which is hilarious becuase I don't think he would even eat veggies if I gave them to him, but from her I guess he thinks it's special).

Pretty chica in her necklace and bracelett...and super cute outfit from Jolene and Gerric..."que bella!!"

Had to include this picture because it is hilarious! We got these clothes from Robert's partner at work who got them from her aunt...and some of them are super cute, but some of them are just weird. As you can see above, (just the pants not the shirt)...are really high waisted. Hey they were free and they are comfortable cotton, so she wears them at night and looks like a nerd. We lovingly nicknamed them her "nargies" since the brand name is very long and south african and we have no idea how to actually pronounce it...but "nargie" is very fun to say...so instead of "go get into your PJs" at night, we say "go get into your nargies lexy! ;)

Mommy's Back to Work

For those of you that haven't heard by now (reason for my delayed blogging action) I have been blessed with the opportunity to work from home, doing what I used to do at Mervyns, but now working for Vanity Fair Brands. It is definately an opportunity of a lifetime I think because I am able to stay home with my little chica and get to use my gown-up brain (not that I was bored before...but I was heading there) and, oh ya, make some good money as well! ;)

I thought about it a lot when I was offered the job....I am great at multi tasking, but come on...can I work and take care of her? Turns out after working out the kinks for a month now I have set up a new routine. First of all, I have the best boss in the world (which is mainly why I took the job) who is very flexible when it comes to working hours. So after trying to figure out what works best for me and Lexy, I am working early in the morning 6-12 (our headquarters are in Atlanta so they are working at east coast time and this is great for them too) and then from 5-8pm (right before lexy's bedtime and when robert gets home). Obviously if needed, I can work whenever I want to catch up on things and finish projects etc., but this is my new set schedule which is working out great!

It's definately a new routine, one that is a learning curve for all of us, to be working again. Alexya is trying to understand why mommy spends hours staring at a laptop screen, while she is playing and used to get my attention 100% of the time. Robert is working as well and now is back to helping me clean the house and take care of Lexy while I work. We are all adjusting, but it's definately a great arrangement and opportunity, like I keep saying, because it was getting tight in the $$ dept. and this is a breath of fresh air! Like I said before, we are truely blessed. :)

Here's Lexy piling her toys into her basket on her car...so she can take them with her on her ride (thanks for letting us borrow it Catherine!). She finally figured out how to climb on it and sit, but still not how to push herself around. She sits on it and rocks back and forth and waits for one of us to push her around the room. She does, however, make very good car/motorboat sound effects by blowing her lips together while you push her!

Here she is in her new outfit/PJs from great auntie rachel. She loves how soft they are and they keep her warm and also match her jewelry! She puts her arm out for you to wrap the necklaces around like a bracelett and then you have to say "que bella" which is spanish for how beautiful and she will smile and walk around the room, making sure to keep her arm straight so that the jewelry doesn't slide off! So funny this chica!

Worky-Work Busy-Bee

It's too funny to watch Alexya playing these days. Now that she can walk, she tries to carry as much as she can or the heaviest things she can find around the room. Sometimes we are lucky and they have a handle, but sometimes they are ridiculous to carry (like the snow globe below: no handle, and way too heavy) and she will come crashing down with a bang. It's funny though becuase if she is really deterimined to carry a particular object...it doesn't matter how many times she drops it or if she gets hurt when she falls...she will try and try again.

She also has the most serious look on her face while carrying things. Like it is very very important work that she is doing. She will organize her toys (in no particular way...or at least that I can figure out) and bring them to one part of the room and put certain ones in her barn and some in her truck and then some go to me of course. The funny thing is that even though I can't understand the order in which she is organizing them, she can! She remembers which ones go where and if you move them she will move them back....all of this while still having the serious face on...like she's doing very important things and working very hard. Sometimes she even works up a little sweat on her brow. :)

The pictures are from our visit to Grandma and Grandpa in the country last week. It was our Christmas visit since we can't come out on actual Christmas (we have 4 Christmases....1. Country G&G, 2. Grandpa Mike and Sushuma & fam, 3. G&G Hernandez & fam, and 4. OURS). We had a great time relaxing and playing in the country and eating REALLY good food as always!

Lexy and daddy opening her present and figuring out what it is and how it works.

Here's the snow globe that Lexy got for Christmas from G&G Country. It is almost as big as she is and plays all kinds of Christmas songs and she can push the button and turn the music and the snow on and off.

Happy Walking Chica

I am in love with my daughter more every day. She is changing so fast and learning so much that it seems like she does something new each day now. Just the little things like scolding Toretto, then learning to sit in her new chair (so cute from Sushuma :)) and shaking her head side to side when you say "no-no-no" are amazing me and make me feel so proud of her. Just as the big events like walking are amazing me, so are the little things.
Like recently she has become so cuddly with me. It's really cute and sweet because she will be playing and then if I'm sitting on the floor she will suddenly decide to come cuddle. She'll walk over to me and flop down in my lap with her arms out around me and lies there for a few seconds then flips over and lays with her fingers in her mouth and her little body resting comfortably on me so content. It's the best! :)
She also loves bringing her books over to me, no matter how heavy they are (jolene and debbie gifts in particular ;)), and handing them to me, then climbs into my lap and gets comfortable because I made a deal with her that whenever she brings me a book, I will read it to her.

So on another note: we put up our Christmas tree, which I'm going to take a picture of, and Lexy is in awe of it. She points at it and smiles, but she's still not sure what the heck it is and, lucky for us, won't touch it yet. Also, as you can see below she is getting very good at walking now and even running (walking very very fast).

Happy 1st Birthday Alexya!

It's been a very busy week! Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone and I'm so happy we got to see alot of the family at Therese and Scott's house for the holiday. Lexy was the only baby there and ran around socializing with everyone as best she could. She was very excited and wouldn't take a nap (as usual) and so she got very tired and fussy by the end of the day. But, at least everyone got to see her in person (alot of you for the first time!). It was so much fun!

We also had guests fly in from LA (Gerric and Jolene) to stay with us Friday through Monday. We had such a good time and really miss them now that they are gone :(... For those of you that don't know, Gerric is Robert's BFF and Jolene is his wife and a "regular" visiter to this Blog ;) always leaving very nice comments :)! They came to Lexy's b-day party Saturday and then we hung out Sunday and spent some "quality time" together. Lexy wasn't used to people staying in her house and was so tired from all the activities (thanksgiving and her b-day) and so she was really grumpy for most of the time, but she had fun playing and showing off to Gerric and Jolene.

Robert and I were really happy they came and finally had a chance to meet Alexya. They were suprised at how different Robert was compared to how he used to be growing up in LA. They said he was such a great dad and I agree! Now, we are wondering if the visit has inspired them to have kids.....hehehe...or inspired them to wait and take their time! :) Anyway, they were the best houseguests ever and we would love to have them back anytime! We also plan on visiting them/staying with them when we take Lexy to Disneyland for the 1st time! :)

Here are some Birthday pictures. The top one is of Lexy on her actual B-day (yesterday) and the bottom is of her at her party on Saturday. We should get some better pics from Gerric and Jolene and Robert's parents to put up later.

Thank you to everyone that came to Lexy's birthday party and for all of the wonderful gifts! She got a ton of peek-a-boo books, a singing Eeyore w/moving ears, a stuffed bowling pin set w/shoes, a keyboard, really really cute clothes, a cute kids chair to sit in, a director's chair and blocks to play with, more books, and I'm probably forgetting stuff but you get the idea. She also had fun climbing into the bags and pulling out the tissue paper and grabbing the peices of wrapping paper I would start for her and yanking them off to open her gifts.

We played a quiz questions about Lexy game and Candice, Amy and Lauryn all tied! So we had a tie breaker question that Candice won based on the most details of Lexy's outfit. We had cake with a big yellow duck on it and all sang to Lexy, but after sticking her finger in it, she didn't want to eat the frosting at all! Overall it was very fun and she had a great time (but again was tired from no nap and got cranky towards the end).

Now that all the festivities are over she is relaxed and happy and back to normal happy chica status....Sorry, but she's gonna have to get used to it: her b-day is always going to be right around thanksgiving and a busy time full of activies (and no naps!). :)

Here is Gerric, Jolene and Alexya! Thanks again for visiting us!

First Steps!!! She Finally Did It!

This is the best picture I could snap of Alexya taking her first steps!
So funny how it happened...She had taken a step or two before and then stopped and sat down and cried in frustration a few times before. Then, today I was watching TV when I noticed she was being very quiet...which is weird...so I looked behind me and saw her in the corner behind the dinner table standing up by herself..and then she took like 3 steps and sat down quietly. It was like she was practicing. Then I decided to try to get her to do it again..so I gave her one of her sandals to hold in one hand and she held my hand w/her other hand and was standing...and then I replaced my hand w/the other sandal and let her go...and she started laughing and walking and laughing and she kept walking and holding the sandals in her hands! We kept doing this and then she just started going on her own.
Crazy thing is that this was at like 4pm and ever since...she just keeps popping up and walking around the house like it's nothing! Robert came home from work and freaked out because she just walked over to him! So Crazy! I can't believe she is walking now and I'm so happy I was here to witness it and see how happy she is doing it! It's like 12 days before she turns 1...so cool cause she will be walking at her party! :) Yay Alexya!

Mommy smooshing Boogie's face and giving her kisses.

Crazy Daddy and daughter having fun.
