Happy 1st Birthday Alexya!

It's been a very busy week! Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone and I'm so happy we got to see alot of the family at Therese and Scott's house for the holiday. Lexy was the only baby there and ran around socializing with everyone as best she could. She was very excited and wouldn't take a nap (as usual) and so she got very tired and fussy by the end of the day. But, at least everyone got to see her in person (alot of you for the first time!). It was so much fun!

We also had guests fly in from LA (Gerric and Jolene) to stay with us Friday through Monday. We had such a good time and really miss them now that they are gone :(... For those of you that don't know, Gerric is Robert's BFF and Jolene is his wife and a "regular" visiter to this Blog ;) always leaving very nice comments :)! They came to Lexy's b-day party Saturday and then we hung out Sunday and spent some "quality time" together. Lexy wasn't used to people staying in her house and was so tired from all the activities (thanksgiving and her b-day) and so she was really grumpy for most of the time, but she had fun playing and showing off to Gerric and Jolene.

Robert and I were really happy they came and finally had a chance to meet Alexya. They were suprised at how different Robert was compared to how he used to be growing up in LA. They said he was such a great dad and I agree! Now, we are wondering if the visit has inspired them to have kids.....hehehe...or inspired them to wait and take their time! :) Anyway, they were the best houseguests ever and we would love to have them back anytime! We also plan on visiting them/staying with them when we take Lexy to Disneyland for the 1st time! :)

Here are some Birthday pictures. The top one is of Lexy on her actual B-day (yesterday) and the bottom is of her at her party on Saturday. We should get some better pics from Gerric and Jolene and Robert's parents to put up later.

Thank you to everyone that came to Lexy's birthday party and for all of the wonderful gifts! She got a ton of peek-a-boo books, a singing Eeyore w/moving ears, a stuffed bowling pin set w/shoes, a keyboard, really really cute clothes, a cute kids chair to sit in, a director's chair and blocks to play with, more books, and I'm probably forgetting stuff but you get the idea. She also had fun climbing into the bags and pulling out the tissue paper and grabbing the peices of wrapping paper I would start for her and yanking them off to open her gifts.

We played a quiz questions about Lexy game and Candice, Amy and Lauryn all tied! So we had a tie breaker question that Candice won based on the most details of Lexy's outfit. We had cake with a big yellow duck on it and all sang to Lexy, but after sticking her finger in it, she didn't want to eat the frosting at all! Overall it was very fun and she had a great time (but again was tired from no nap and got cranky towards the end).

Now that all the festivities are over she is relaxed and happy and back to normal happy chica status....Sorry, but she's gonna have to get used to it: her b-day is always going to be right around thanksgiving and a busy time full of activies (and no naps!). :)

Here is Gerric, Jolene and Alexya! Thanks again for visiting us!

First Steps!!! She Finally Did It!

This is the best picture I could snap of Alexya taking her first steps!
So funny how it happened...She had taken a step or two before and then stopped and sat down and cried in frustration a few times before. Then, today I was watching TV when I noticed she was being very quiet...which is weird...so I looked behind me and saw her in the corner behind the dinner table standing up by herself..and then she took like 3 steps and sat down quietly. It was like she was practicing. Then I decided to try to get her to do it again..so I gave her one of her sandals to hold in one hand and she held my hand w/her other hand and was standing...and then I replaced my hand w/the other sandal and let her go...and she started laughing and walking and laughing and she kept walking and holding the sandals in her hands! We kept doing this and then she just started going on her own.
Crazy thing is that this was at like 4pm and ever since...she just keeps popping up and walking around the house like it's nothing! Robert came home from work and freaked out because she just walked over to him! So Crazy! I can't believe she is walking now and I'm so happy I was here to witness it and see how happy she is doing it! It's like 12 days before she turns 1...so cool cause she will be walking at her party! :) Yay Alexya!

Fun and Discipline

Ok ok I know...she is so super cute and happy and all that....most of the time....But! Especially lately, she is definately changing and trying out some new personalities...like...cranky tantrum throwing girl! She is going through a period now where she knows what she wants and if she doesn't get it or doesn't like what you are doing, she will scream at you.
This all started a week or two ago when she starting being more confident at walking and so she wants to hold your hand and have you walk her...which is fine until you are tired of walking in circles for an hour and want to sit down... then she will come over and grab your hand and pry your fingers apart till she gets your index finger and then wraps her hand around it and start walking off (and you are supposed to come with) and you stay put and so she pulls and pulls and then lets go and flops to the ground and starts screaming and fake crying like you just broke her heart. Seriously, I know I'm making this dramatic, but it IS this dramatic I swear!
I try to calmly explain to her "lexy, mommy is tired and we are done walking right now...why don't you play with your toys or read your books?" She goes and grabs a toy and throws it down and then makes eye contact with me and smiles and comes charge-crawling right back over to me and trys to grab my hand again!!
This goes on and on until I can't take it anymore so I stand up and walk away from her....OH..My..Gosh...END OF THE WORLD TIME!
It's funny because this is just one example, but there are so many others where it's just hard to know when to comfort and when to scold and when to just let her cry and be mad. We are definately learning all of this RIGHT NOW and I'm sure all the parents out there are going...um ya...get used to it, it never ends!

Lexy chugging her juice...she doesn't even use these cups anymore..so this is so crazy..this picture is only 3 weeks old! She will only use a kid's cup with a lid and straw now.
**Oh, and by the way (since Jolene reminded me) her clothing size is another changing factor. She has pants that are 6-9 months, but now I think they are getting too small/short....so...If you want to get her clothes then buy the 12 month size please. Socks are 6-12 mo now, but soon will be 12-18...shoes are size 3 now and soon will be size 4. So if you want her to wear them now or later it's your choice. (honestly, I think she skipped size 2 shoes...she grew so fast at one point!)

Playing a video game that daddy found (it was his like 30 years ago and still works! Star wars of course). It makes cool sounds and only has like 4 buttons to push so she loves it! I think it's Return of the Jedi...he also has the Empire Strikes Back game still.

Speaking of Star Wars...Robert calls her his "jawa" when she has her hood up like this... (for those not familiar w/Star wars and all of the many crazy creatures, like me, I think they are the tiny sand people with the hooded cloaks.

Alexya and Isabel's Day at the Park

a
Here are the hotties all piled in Debbie's SUV looking cute as ever and ready to roll!

Had to stick this one in...Lexy stuffing her face w/bananas. Yep, that's my girl!

After our picnic lunch we went to the playground so Lexy could play and let out some energy! Here she is on the swings...so cute because Debbie was swinging next to her (on the adult swings...geeze people) :)

This one is hard to really see Lexy, but she is pulling me along because she is so excited to walk around on the playground. Too bad she can't walk by herself yet, but then again...that will be another story right?! She loves to walk and pick up all the leaves off the ground (stopping every two feet to pick up another one). She loves the slide and the swings and just exploring everything. It's really fun to bring her to parks and it was really fun having Debbie and Isabel there to play with (even though Isabel can't get out of her stroller yet, Lexy loves having an audience). Just wait till the two of them can walk and play...it will be so much fun! :)

Tinkerbell's 1st Trick or Treat

We had a great Halloween this year! Alexya got all dressed up as Tinkerbell (complete with tin foil wrapped straw/wand which didn't make it in the pictures). We got to give out candy at Grandma's house and then go trick or treating when daddy got home from work. She got to see all the kids running around the street in their costumes and she was totally in awe of them and curious as to why they were laughing and running and looking so weird!
It was so much fun taking her from door to door! Way more fun than I had anticipated because Alexya actually had fun. She was so cute... the person would open the door and mommy and daddy would say "trick or treat" and the person would give Lexy a piece of candy and she would stare at them and just hold onto the candy like a treasure. Then after we walked away from the door I would hold out her pumpkin bag and say "put it in your bag" and she would just drop it in. Then onto the next house...she would point her wand and scream out in excitement! It was too cute and I was getting emotional and trying not to cry and let Robert see I was tearing up....geeze..I know I know...but I didn't think it would be so fun for her and it hit me so hard that I'm taking my daughter out for her first trick or treating experience. Even Robert had fun..still in his EMT uniform, straight from work, and so proud holding his little squealing tinkerbell daughter.

Dancing Tinkerbell

Now how am I gonna eat all this candy? (75 bags that grandma made to hand out to the kids!)
