Growing and Growing and Growing...

Since she has mastered crawling (she's so fast) she has decided to try pulling herself up (hasn't quite done it yet, but she keeps trying) and loves to stand up and hold onto something. She is practice walking very well and is trying to master her balance and strength. She likes to see what she can do physically and gets very excited with some "ooh ooh ooh" grunts (like a monkey) when she trys new things. I've been reading and talking to people about how some babies talk before they walk because they work harder on learning those speach skills than the physical skills. This makes sense to me and I think in Lexy's case it's the other way around. She probably won't talk for a long time, but she will be running around all over the place! ~~~ Could it be all the A's games she went to in my tummy or her A's themed room....hmmmm future athlete??? :)

I love this shot of her with tears rolling down her face!! Not because she is sad or upset....but because she is pushing Real hard! and yes in her high chair... ahhh the convenience of diapers....Too much!! Too funny! ;)
Playing video games? Not yet, just playing with the controller. And Dad decided to put me in my workout headband because with all the crawling around I was working up quite a sweat!

Sorry it's so blurry, but this is her little play area with all her toys and games.
Oh, and I almost forgot! Only 1 week left of work! :)

Playin' with Toretto....and his Water!

Water, water, anywhere she can find it, she loves it! Here are a couple shots of Lexy discovering Toretto's water dish and having fun splashing it all over the place and soaking herself...while he just patiently waits, eating his food and dying of thirst, until she is finished before even taking a sip! Amazing how good he is with her!

She is Changing So Much!

Check out this face! She is looking more and more like the little girl she will become and less like a baby. So weird how her appearance and her personality are both chaning so rapidly right now! She is becoming so independent by wanting to be on the floor and not held in your arms so she can crawl and explore. But at the same time she wants you to be right there next to her and if you walk away for a second...she crys and wants you back! It's so crazy!

Here's a picture of Lauryn and Lexy at Amy's bridal shower...more pics to come.

Finally, here's the picture of Robert's new tatoo! It has healed up since this picture and isn't so burgundy...just grey color...and not so glossy! ;) But, I absolutely love it with all my heart and just had to share it with everyone.

Lexy and her Auntie...just relaxin' on the couch at grandpa's after a long day! What a couple of cuties! It was so fun watching Lexy play with Lauryn. Lauryn would do something with one of Lexy's toys, like hit it against another one, and Lexy would copy whatever she did!! I also just have to add that Lauryn had saved most of her favorite toys from when she was a baby and gratiously bestowed them upon Alexya! ;) What a nice Auntie! Lexy can always use more bath toys....since she spends most of her time in the water! :)

What's New????

Wow, I have a lot to update everyone on.....

First of all, Robert got a new tatoo. (Which I will add a picture of later) It is a cross with thorns wrapped around it (symbolizing a protective barrier) and a banner with "mi vida" on in (which means "my life" in spanish). It has my name on the top in old english font and our anniversary date on the bottom. He designed it himself and it has a lot of meaning in it for both of us. I absolutely LOVE IT! :)

Secondly, we decided to paint the interior of our house...since we are no longer moving...and it was a huge job that required the help of robert's dad and a 20 ft ladder to get all the way up to our vaulted ceiling. The color is very hard to describe, but basically it is a soft beige that picks up the burgundy/red/grey/cream and white of our existing decor. I love it because it makes our whole house look brand new (oh and I washed all the outer windows and screens so they are sparkling which adds to the newness!) yay! We also bought more play mats, for lexy, to cover the hard floor so she can continue to practice crawling around the house like a ping pong ball! She is so fast! It's like you blink and she is somewhere she shouldn't be and you have to run over and grab her just in the nick of time!

Ok, and the biggest news of all I saved for last! :)

On Friday I gave 1 month's notice of resignation from work. Ok, calm down people...don't worry, I worked out a budget and looked at this from every possible practical angle (and if you really know me then you know that's true! ;)) But bottom line is that I'm just so miserable being away from my baby girl for so long and I don't want to miss out on this time. I plan on going back to work in a couple years, but for now I want to spend all the time I can with her so that I can look back on these days and have wonderful memories and not regret the fact that I had to work and didn't try to do this! Robert is extremely happy with our decision, even though it means he has to work overtime shifts, he is looking forward to it because he knows it is going to make me so happy (and lexy so happy!) So with this extra time I plan on visiting as many people as I can and totally take advantage of not working! My last day is going to be July 27th, so I am kicking off my 'extended vacation' with my grandma's big birthday party! yay! :) Let the countdown begin!

Debbie's Baby Shower

Here are some of the pictures from Debbie's shower Saturday. We got to celebrate debbie's upcoming little girl with a hawaiian theme shower complete with yummy food and fun games! Here we are smelling diapers....
Here's Robert getting ready for his walk on the runway. The guys were given assorted items and told to make the most fashionable baby gear and walk the runway! It was hilarious!
Here's a picture of many current and past Merv employees....oh the bond is strong at the Merv!
If you look very closely, you can see debbie's belly.....whatever debbie! gain some weight already! ;)

Time with Lexy

I noticed that Lexy looks at her dad in a way that I never see her look at anyone else. It's so crazy because she is only six (almost 7) months old, but she looks at him with such a look of love and awe in her face that just screams "I love my daddy and he is my hero!" Like yesterday, we were listening to Led Zeppelin, and Robert was singing along with this one part in a real high pitched voice and Lexy was watching him and just started laughing and laughing so hard and wouldn't stop!! It kept going on for so long that I actually started crying because I just got so emotional....I know, I know, I'm Always emotional. :)
Robert tells me that he noticed that when I come home from work she acts different than when he comes home or when she sees anyone else...and that makes me feel so good because you don't really notice things like that until someone points them out. She does kinda spazz out and grunt and wave her arms around like she's having a seizure or something when she sees me...oh and she has a big huge smile on her face!
But, I've noticed that she is getting weird with me, like when I leave her alone, after I've come home from work, she crys really hard now! She never did that before, but we think it's because she doesn't really see me that much...so when she does, she wants me to hold her every second so that I don't disapear again. She even fights going to sleep! Even though she is so tired and rubbing her bloodshot eyes, she will start to close them for a second and then, wham, she jolts awake and lets out a small cry like she's mad that she's falling asleep! Lately, she has been falling asleep in my arms, it's so crazy.
I feel so sad sometimes that I can't be with her more. Even on the weekends it's weird because I'm so used to going to work that I don't really know what to do with her in the mornings...like a routine...I just want to hang out with her and she wants to hang out with me...so Saturdays are basically us just sitting together holding on to each other and not wanting to let go! Oh well, I'm not complaining...or maybe I am...I just wish I had more time with her cause I feel like she is growing so fast and I want to witness every second of it!

She has the goofiest (is that a word?) look on her face here!

An action shot! :) She loves playing on the floor with her toys and hitting her sunflower to make it play music. She is practicing going from a sitting to a crawling postion...sometimes it doesn't work out and she goes backwards!

Bathing Beauty

Finally I'm putting up the pictures from Father's day and Alexya's first time in the pool! As you can see she is absolutely stunning in her bathing suit, and knows it! :) We brought along her ducks to play with and bought her this blow up baby raft to swim around in. Her legs go through the bottom so she can practice kicking in the water (which she did!!) The water was a little cool so when I first put her in it she did these little gasps or deep breaths which were so funny. But then she got used to it and away she went kicking and splashing and having a great time! She loves the water I tell you! She also loved watching daddy and grandpa do cannon balls off the diving board and making huge splashes....as long as she wasn't IN the water when they did it.

We all had a great time and I think Lexy had so much fun that she wore herself out....hmmmm what do you think????

She's Mobile!

The most amazing discovery has been made! Alexya has discovered that if she wants something bad enough...she can get it! She would lie on her stomach and reach and cry out for any object out of her reach....until yesterday!! She figured out that if she puts out her arms and grabs at the floor...she can drag herself forward! So funny to watch and so cute to see her look of satisfaction (which I think I captured in the picture above) when she pulls herself within reach of the object of her desire! We also got it on video, but if you would like a "live" performance feel free to stop by for a visit! Now we really have to baby-proof the house because next step is crawling!

No more just rolling over side to side...I'm moving forward now! Ye-ah!

Graduation Day ~ Congrats Lauryn!

Here are some of the pictures I took of my baby sister (who's turning 15 in about a month!) graduating 8th grade! She looked so pretty in her dress with her hair all done up! Here she is receiving her diploma.

looking at her diploma...probably thinking "hmmm now I get to start high school and get another one of these in 4 years."

Here's Lexy with grandpa. She was very good in the heat, sucking on a squirt bottle and screaming and clapping for her auntie!

New Pics

I thought I would put up some recent pictures. Lexy has just learned a couple new things such as spinning in circles on her stomach, but not yet crawling and as you can see in the pic below...she is sticking her tongue between her lips and spitting because she loves the sound of a motor boat! At least that's what i'm guessing. She also loves sitting on the floor and is very good at it and she loves to go to the store and see everything. Oh and most of all, she loves visiting people! Such a social butterfly!

6 Months Old! 14lbs 9oz 2ft 2in Healthy Girl

Lexy is now at the 6 month milestone! We had another visit to the doctor and yes....the dreaded shots again! :( My poor baby girl. She had to get 5 this time (including the liquid one) and she was so brave for the first two, but the second two made her cry so hard that it was a deep belly cry that Robert and I have never heard before! It actually sounded like a laugh, but with a red face and tears. Other than the shots the visit was wonderful. Her doctor says "she is very strong" and "such a happy baby" YAY! :) He also said we can start giving her a variety of solid foods now....look out diapers!
I can't believe how fast she is changing and I am amazed everyday by a different facial expression, sound or movement she can do! She is so happy and fun, we are so lucky to have her. I can't wait to come home from work and see her realize that I am home and give me the biggest smile in the world! She is so cute how she seriously watches everything around her and studies really hard, like she is trying to figure out what is happening and why....I can't imagine what is going through her little brain at this point.
She loves standing up (with help) and grabbing at things, especially Toretto! She will grab handfulls of his hair and rip them out and he just lets her (with a wince of pain and a quick glance back to make sure it is just Lexy). The cats are even starting to notice her and sit by her...just out of her reach...she can't wait to be able to move on her own so she can chase after them! She grunts at them with excitement everytime she spots one and reaches out to grab it!...should be interesting if she actually catches one...
Oh did I mention that she learned how to whine like Toretto? She does this daffy duck sounding "wooh, wooh, woo-ooh, wooh" that we didn't understand at first where she learned it...and then we realized it sounded familiar...like exactly like Toretto's whimpering! Too funny!
Other things she has picked up are learning how to give kisses! I've been kissing her since the day she was born and finally she is starting to try to give kisses back! Of course they are open mouthed and very wet, but they are so cute and wonderful to get! :)
She loves fake coughing and she will fake cough at you and smile and wait to see what you do...and when you cough at her, she smiles and laughs and then will do it again. It's also hilarious to her when you fake sneeze! A simple ah-choo will make her laugh. Oh and speaking of laughs! Her laughs are the best, most wonderful sound you have ever heard and they make you smile so hard and even laugh yourself! I can't describe the emotion that goes through you when you hear your baby laugh a deep belly laugh!!! It's just amazing and makes you go crazy with love inside!
